More people support local businesses on Mother’s Day

The holidays are back to normal, starting with Mother’s Day! It’s the first turquoise weekend for Bernalillo County and after a full year of lockdown, business owners are seeing more support from locals in days like today. A local artist from RBL Jewelers said, “A lot of it was Mother’s Day gifts the last few days.” He says they’re happy to be back. “We are here to serve our community in Albuquerque, New Mexico.” Throughout the pandemic, many people have tried to help keep local businesses afloat. Sarah Wasson said, “I love supporting the local community, I love helping people take charge and it’s a wonderful thing to have this community come together and do it. On this sunny Mother’s Day, this jeweler can vouch for her support. RBL Jewelers said, “Much of our customer base is local because they are grateful that we are back and making local jewelry. For others, just going out after being home for so long because of the pandemic is a refreshing change. Isabel Garica said she enjoyed walking and “seeing other people walking around and enjoying the day and the music”. Due to the updated guidelines, people sometimes take off masks… but still be cautious. Garcia said, “I do it myself, definitely, but intermittently. But being at the park if we stay at a distance, it gives a little more relaxation. Relaxation and time to celebrate with your loved ones. “My granddaughter called me and told me she had a present for me and I told her I was here at Old Town Plaza.
