How to refer – Children and Youth Services: University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

If you are a healthcare professional and would like to discuss a patient or how best to refer us, please feel free to call the pediatric consultant hotline number: 07803853567 Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

We are currently holding as many consultations as possible by phone or video but are able to see urgent cases face to face each morning.

If a child or teenager needs an urgent appointment, general practitioners can refer to our quick reference clinic. This is a pre-booked service via electronic referrals.

General practitioners should not hesitate to call 07803853567 if they found phone advice helpful prior to the referral.

The critically ill child, who needs immediate attention, should be referred directly to an emergency department (A&E). Please note that during the Covid 19 pandemic, the UCLH pediatric emergency department is temporarily diverted to nearby hospitals. Please therefore use the nearest pediatric emergency department which is open.

For a baby with prolonged jaundice (14-20 days):

  • if the child is well, please contact the ANNP clinic of the neonatal unit by contacting 07903 358839 or 07903 358839.
  • if the child is also ill, please contact the nearest pediatric emergency department.

For a baby with prolonged jaundice (21+ days), refer to the quick reference clinic
