Deputy Director of Social Care – Children and Young People’s Services at Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council

It’s an exciting time to join Rotherham Council and an opportunity to make a real difference. We are a radically changed authority, and we look to the future with a renewed sense of purpose where we make a real difference for children and families in the borough. We have an ambitious and challenging transformation agenda, aimed at delivering the best outcomes for all our young people, keeping children safe and supporting those in need.

We are looking for a strategic leader to join us as Deputy Director of our Child and Youth Services team, who can rise to the challenge through sustainable, innovative and creative ways of working, and who has a clear passion to provide excellent services that support and protect children. We have built strong and effective partnerships and, under your leadership, our teams will continue to build effective relationships with external stakeholders, partners and agencies, representing the Council and promoting the interests of our children to those groups.

As Deputy Director of Child Welfare, you will build on the impressive progress we have made in recent years and take our Ofsted services from ‘good’ to ‘outstanding’. As an Operational Safeguard and Social Work Manager, you will have strong statutory and legislative knowledge, and your practice ethic will be underpinned by strengths-based work and relationship practice. By managing a range of discrete services, your contribution to the strategic direction, impact and overall performance of management will be essential. With experience in leading a diverse management team, in-depth practical knowledge of child welfare best practices and successful management of budget and resources, you will be able to actively demonstrate successful service delivery and efficient.

Now is the time, for Rotherham and you, so if you want to work in an innovative, honest and strengths-based culture that innovates to improve outcomes for children and young people, we would love to hear from you.
