Acting People Manager – Management Consulting at Frazer Jones

I am delighted to share that I am currently supporting a strategy consulting firm in the search for their interim Head of People (HR) on fixed-term contracts for 14-month maternity coverage. The people manager is an essential role, fundamental to managing and developing our People function. The People Manager is responsible for directing, managing and connecting all staff efforts, working in collaboration with our partners. The People Manager will have two direct reports: (1) a UK-based personal assistant and (2) an internal recruitment manager. However, we plan to hire a US-based Director/Human Resources Manager in 2022, to augment the team and provide more support to our US employees, this role will also report directly to the People Manager. The Personnel Manager will work closely with the UK Partner and the US Partner. The role is responsible for overseeing the delivery of all aspects of the employee lifecycle in the UK and US, to ensure continuity of HR support to employees and partners. The role will also require working alongside partners on HR/people related issues; provide policy guidance, people benefits, ensure alignment with HR legislation where required, ensure all HR/People processes are managed effectively and do all of this while remaining compliant with the approach and business culture. In addition, the People Manager works closely with other business partners, to ensure that people-focused activities and projects are closely aligned with business strategy, people strategy and the DE&I strategy. Previous experience managing a hybrid work team across two international locations will be beneficial. The successful candidate will have strong HR operational experience in a professional services environment. Main responsibilities include:
  • Work alongside associates to support the development and delivery of People projects in line with business strategy
  • Lead all elements of HR/People issues
  • Provide information on HR policy and legislation to UK and US hubs (working with our legal partners where necessary)
  • Respond to all reactive HR needs (e.g. performance management, wellness and support, etc.)
  • Manage and develop the human team.

Description of the person

The successful candidate will have a strong HR background in a professional services environment and must be able to exercise sound judgment in applying HR best practices in a manner that aligns with the company’s unique culture . They are prepared to be flexible and adapt their approach according to the situation while respecting the values ​​and expectations of the company of the Partner group. The ideal candidate can quickly establish good relationships within the company (at all levels) and instinctively knows where to prioritize efforts.

A person in this role must uphold the highest standards of confidentiality, even when under pressure to share information. All personal data must be protected under professional and legal provisions.

Desired knowledge and experience:

  • A minimum of 12 HR experiences, covering generalist, employee relations
  • Experience working in support of a partnership or similarly structured organization, working on HR initiatives with busy senior executives
  • Knowledge and understanding of the management consulting industry and the type of work performed by the firm is advantageous but not required
  • Good understanding of key HR areas (e.g. benefits, policy and process – including a good understanding of employment law, employee relations, talent acquisition and management, learning, development and training, DE&I, mental health and well-being)
